If the current is strong enough it will keep tge waste floating around untill the canisters grab it. Which won't take long because combined the filters pump close to 1300 gph. So the tank drains and fills almost 5 and 1/2 times in one hour. The water is always crispy and u never see particals floating around unless I haven't serviced tge filters in a while.


oh ok, now I understand wut ur getting at with the powerhead and i didn't know there was any other differences between gravel & sand either then sand can get in the vacuum when cleaning & it's only the once color where as gravel can't get removed from the vacuum & there's many colors of gravel, also I didn't waste just settles on sand, and with gravel it gets under it.
Thanks for that advice, helps me out with my tanks now, that'd fix alot of the situations with my mid size tank.
