I see a lot of conflicting things about a GSP's diet on the net.
My GPS is around 2.5-3" now and I have had him for three months now.
He does eat very well, flakes, small guppie, blood worms, feading frinzy cubes, crickets and any small snails I can get my hands on.
This is a great fish and I want to see him into his old age.:D
Thanks, Jay

I would stop feeding the guppies. They are primarily molluskers in the wild but in captivity a varied diet is the best for any fish. I feed muscles, snails, crab in the shell, krill, and occasionally blood worms and crayfish. My GSPs and figure 8s also enjoy hikari sinking carnivore pellets. What salinity do you keep them in? They are brackish when young and eventually will need marine conditions as adults.

First off i would stop feeding your GSP guppies, since its not really a piscivore and so could cause problems down the line, especially with things such as internal parasites etc...

As for diet, you could also try feeding him defrosted prawns, clams, mussels or squid... since you seem to have yours eating pretty varied diet as it is... btw, what sort of conditions are you keeping it in?

Edit: poster above must have posted while i was writing this... an way... got any pics of your new guy?

I am keeping Pete at 1.004-5 for now and moving it up as he grows.

No pics yet. He is alone in a 16 gal. tall and water is 78-F, 7.5 ph, med hard, 1.004-5 SG

^ He will need a larger tank down the line, around 30G for a singleton... and you'll need to raise his salinity as he gets older all the way up to 1.015... other than that did you check out the links Puffer Punk gave you... some very good info in there...

I don't know where I have read it but I had it wrote down in my note book like this: 1.005-8 at 2" 1.010-15 at 2 to 4" 1.018-22 at 4-6"

I going to get a thirty in the future.

Haven't had time to check out links yet but have saved them to my favorites to look at later today and to have as a reference in the future.
Thanks, Jay

LOL, that's a quote from the GSP article I linked you to! ;)

I read so much about all the fish I have and plan to have that sometimes I don't know where I got the info.

I have still not when over the links. I am in the middle of changing up one tank and water changes on all the rest. I will make the time before I call it a day. Thanks, Jay
