I really think this is the best planted tank I've ever done! It came out amazing. It's 7 months old, 55 g, no CO2. I had the 55 as a turtle tank before this and just capped that substrate with sand, I really think I have that to thank for the insane plant growth. I did have a big problem with blue green algae for awhile but with water changes and the plants finally growing in, I haven't had any in a few months. I am using a Hygger light and it really does a great job!

Nice. I figured it was <7 since plants can fully use nutrients in neutral to acidic water. Some nutrients get locked out even though they are present in alkaline water. Very nice planted display!

The nitrogen cycle is a naturally acidifying process, so even if you start with water slightly above 7, the nitrogen cycle will naturally lower the pH. I used to be a grower in an indoor hydroponics farm...just vegetables people :WHOA:...we lowered the pH of the nutrient solution to almost 5 to increase the nutrient uptake by the plant roots.
