Here its a pretty nasty crisis too:irked: As for me I grow alot of plants for my igs and turtles, I breed crickets and mealworms(starting on mini meal worms), feed my turts koi pellets insted of turtle pelllets except for the young ones(much cheaper) and use alot free food like wild tree fruits like figs wich are plentyfull here and igs love them;)

That's ridiculous! They're friggin crickets! I guess that pet store's cricket supply is blessed by the Pope or something.

That particular pet store carries diff types of geckos and they have you by the throat if you buy a gecko as no place in area carries live crickets.
Exotic birds you can buy for 1/10 of what they cost anywhere in America but crickets are like caviar lol.

I feed house geckoes by my kitchen window sill at night and even for that order wax worms on line and because EVERY wax worm portion in local pet stores is dead .

I have started to breed my own crickets and this summer I am planning on growing some veggies and fruits for everyone. I just wish I could produce macaw food since she eats half and trashes the rest.

I've been off for 4 months and had to move. I had no choice but to sell EVERYTHING. Fish tanks, and snakes including my two GTPs.:(

its hard on everyone :(

It hasn't been too hard for me, at least no harder than the last couple years. I'm in college, so I'm kind of struggling as it is. I've cut back to just one fish tank, my turtles, and a beardie-although I did get a dog, she's not cheap. I used have an ig and like 12 geckos, the turtles, and 7-10 tanks set up. I do have a job on campus this year, so I actually have a bit more spending money this year than I did last year. I'm hoping to make it to the All Ohio show in a few weeks to get a dubia colony started so I don't have to keep getting crickets for my beardie. I have a mealworm colony started, but he just doesn't seem to like them much...

the owner of the local pet store just delivered some rabbits to my house the other night and informed me of their crisis. the did $137,000 less business this year than last. the worst year in their 12 year history. they plan on closing the store soon.

i'd love to get the animals from the shelter before they euthanize them.

If everyone did this the shelters would have plenty of $$ to put back into the shelters / system instead of wasting it on euthanizing animals. And people who dump their pets might think twice if their precious "Mr Kitty" might end up as "Mr Snakes" lunch instead of the false thoughts that it might get adopted...
