I have heard of people putting fish in those round hamster balls for a time out when they have been aggressive. I don't know if that would work put maybe.

that has to be the most retarded thing I have ever heard in my life.....:screwy: Grounding your fish??? serioulsy????

Whenever my fish are bad I just crap in their tank to show them who's boss:eek:

the fish probably stopped because it saw Giant Human Being Putting this giant thing with 5 tentacles bigger then the fish, so he got scared and stopped chasing.

I am not scientist but my theory sounds pretty good LOL

My trimac will let me pet him before every meal. He bites my friends when they try it, or he will dart down and flap his tail like a whale. Although my tank is not in the atlantic, rather in my family room and everytime he does that, I have water all over the place.

lol, I have a flowerhorn that does the same, my brother tried catching it with a net and it just splashed him with a nice Pokemon tailwhip attack, and I just put the net in and gently rub his sides and he rolls over and i just scoop him up and he doesn;t flail or anything.

That goldfish video is nuts!!! they must have swallowed a ferofluid or mixed it in with their fish food and had magnets under the table, but you never know, those Japanese always thinking up crazy schemes and TV shows. But its probably also some of the most entertaining stuff I have ever seen.

I guess if the can do that with goldfish cichlids could easily be trained.

I wasnt going to tell anyone this for obvious reasons ,but we had an oscar (god bless his soul) that i trainned to ring a bell for dinner took about a year to fully teach him but if you did not take the bell string out before bed 1,2,3 am ding, ding oh my wife was pissed couldnt give a crap if it sang show tunes she wanted to fry it.so to this day the argument is did he just ring the bell or did he know what he was doing. i say yes, wife says stupid fish!

I actually trained (i guess) my flowerhorn to sort of snap the water if he was hungry, everytime he would suck the water/air in from the top and snap, I would give him food. And each time he would eat, so i figured that was his way of telling me he was hungry, but he could have just been snapping becasue he saw some reflection at the top of the tank, btu he did it at almost the exact same times every day and never at night.

lol thats not a nice mental image :WHOA:. I agree grounding the fish is stupid. I think most of my fish are too smart to be trained. They would just wait for me to turn my back then go back to doing what they want.

My Midas and Jag have trained me to feed them..........

Oh wait........GOT TO GET FISH FOOD, NOT THE CRAP PELLETS, FRESH FILETS, SHRIMP....

Did anyone else hear that??

Ha...thats funny! how true it is.:nilly:

Wouldent really call cichlids or any common aqurium fish for that matter smart, because all the "tricks" are linked to food. If you could train a fish to something without the food reward, then I`d be impressed.

Why? You train a dog to respond to praise, because dogs NEED praise to be healthy and happy. Fish do not need praise.

dogs and fish are diffrent things... and all living tings need food.
Dogs are also pack animals, and therefore do need attention because we have domesticated(sp?) them. thats also why dogs happend to be a great pet, becouse they are very owner responsive.
I`m just trying to say that, if you walk by your tank and your "insert fish here" comes up the surface and really pays attention to you. Its not because your cute or he just wants to say "hi", They relate you, to food.

Thats why i dont think cichlids are that intelligent... compared to say a chimp.
