This drives me crazy. :irked:
I'm strapped for cash right now but looking at trying to find a nice craigslist score to get another bigger tank, but every yahoo that lists on there is asking rediculous amounts. $550 for a 55G on my local CL right now. :screwy:

wow 10 dollars/gallon....I always wonder if these outrageous tanks ever sell?

yeah o general public they amuse me at pet stores. I hate it when people buy tons of mollies and get an algea eater im like buy the rubber lip it stays small and they buy a common pleco. I mean really plecos suck at eating algea, I have a ten gal grow out with two plecs (270 gph power head hows that for ten gallon filtering) and the walls are covered in algae they dont eat it dont you people understand throw in some lettuce cucombers nectarine spinach what ever

they do eat algae though, atleast til they reach a certain size....i thought the problem is most people want them to eat fish waste?

Excellent point.

Still one of the most disturbing myths. And it's really easy to spot a a customer who cares about their fish vs. one who doesn't. Almost every pleco article or book puts heavy emphasis on food choices for the given fish. You have to have read absolutely 0 articles to not know that plecos are a natural fish which need a balanced diet and weren't created by some magic fish factory as poop vacuums.

People know the need to get rid of the waste in the tank, but the look to another fish to do it for them. They dont want to do water changes.

Well, my raphael cats eat Oscar poop. But they certainly wouldn't live long eating it every day as a staple.

Speaking of which, I've got to move some of these raphs out of here. Making room for the Adonis. Which I already know will be 15" in the next five years and continue to grow ever after. Because I read a lot about this species. :D
