the hell is this

My question is why the hell is the person lipping a 6 oz fish?
Someone who wants picture of the whole thing without it flopping off a 20 foot dock ??
very interesting do you have more pics? did you catch more than one?
I didn't catch more than that one but my friend did catch another similar one.

People worried about the handling of an invasive species... priceless... kill it on site ?☠⚔?
I don't care too much for killing it just out of the mercy of me being a fishkeeper. It's going to die in the winter anyway and that pond is full of things dumped in by people. There's a full sized albino oscar in there too. Amphilophines reportedly taste horrible anyway. Lucky for the weird hybrid cichlids though, I have a friend begging me to catch them again so he can buy them off of me. Going back this weekend and hoping the DNR didn't get to them before me so I can cash in.

It's not going to survive the winter. No need to kill on sight. And yes, it's ''sight'', not site.
I mean both technically work...

Have at it ?... gotta b killed, thats how this works ??‍♂️. These pics make it to newspapers/media pretty quick. No bueno for “fish keepers”. We dont need stricter laws regardless if it can survive the winter or not. Any good fishermen would “do their duty” to help conserve the environment lol... “kill 1 to save 1,000”
Main reason little to none of the northern cases make the news is cuz they have to go through people freaking out about them breeding first. Goldfish in the Potomac is different because they can overwinter and breed pretty well. CA cichlids in Florida as well for the same reasons. Other than that it might get a single article on some c list news outlet by the time it froze to death in December. Again lucky for it and any of its potential siblings my friend is begging me for it.

Im north aswell... dirty ole Ohio lol... sadly i see it every year. Usually always piranha, oscars, alligators ?... we had a RTC pop up this year ?‍♂️... goes around quick on the FB fishing forums. Im overly cautious these days ive had trouble with “authorities” in the past changing laws... Agree with ya tho, atleast we get a deep freeze every year to keep warm water species off the radar.

I doubt they'd change laws on something like this, fishkeeping is a big industry and I'm sure it would hurt the economy to ban one of if not the most popular groups of fish. Piranhas and alligators on the other hand are banned in some places.

State law makers do not care about fish keeping or the economy... unless its going towards their own pockets ?... sadly the species dont really matter either. Anything negative they can use as ammo, like pictures, to “tighten up” laws they will. They do blanket bans when new laws are made and ban things they dont even know about. Ex. Snakehead... many warm water ones that cant survive a winter tossed in with the name. They can pretty much do whatever they want blindly. I assure u, 1 lousey fish is all it takes. Laws change every year and its not in our favor, the lists just get longer...Really have to keep up on them as theres no remorse for not knowing either. Some states are worse than others, some are worse than federal laws also. Be happy u live in a state with winter. Anything “tropical” is usually off the radar.

Idk man, the channa ban was awhile ago and honestly a pretty singular case for a blanket ban. Aside from maybe piranhas, but that's more of a public safety thing and a pretty specific one at that (and only specific to certain warmer states)

Not tryin to argue or sound crazy... just tryin to help the cause and let other people know to b careful. Wouldnt waste my time if it didnt happen to regular keepers/people. Pictures are a big one these days, state authorities patrol social media to make cases. The lacey act in 2016 changed my life ??... things are not in our favor to say the least. Zoos are even having trouble getting permits renewed for certain species. 1 fish matters... they will suit up and find u, they will come and get u at your job and escort u into ur home with arms and pre issued warrants... believe me ?. They think “fish” are equal to having a tiger in ur basement. Ive lived it ?. Im just one example like the rest. There were many before me i thought weren’t related either... it all is sadly
