He is a pufferfish expert. You don't need to be an expert in every single species to understand their needs & the science of keeping them long-term. He has fish that are close to 30 years old. I have kept several over 20.

They say people dont know what they are getting into when buying a mbu puffer lol , I have a 15 inch mbu with a few 2inch clown loaches and an NGT on a 90 gallon he seems pertty happy since i bought it wich was 3 years ago.

No offense, but i'm pretty sure a healthy MBU should be much larger than 15" considering its 3 years old...

Lets stay focused. Were not talking about other species. Were talking about MBU puffers. So your feeling is if you keep one species there all pretty much the same. gotcha;)

So you know what the growth rate should be to be healthy.
All MBU should grow as the same rate. How do you know this? or are is it just your own feeling. I think how much you feed has a lot more to do with growth then just age.
Every fish is different. I have fish I got at the same size. Some grew bigger faster all got the same food. 15" in 3 years sound normal to me.

Did a Nitrate test on video. Now you can say my test kit is old or expired or faulty whatever.. Its a brand new test kit from API. I bought it couple months ago cause someone said my nitrates must be over 140ppm. I never tested it before that time. Was never worried about it. These are sold in every LFS used by many LFS to test customer water. I'm sure you'll say there are others types you think are more accurate.

lol nice buddy, its just in some people's nature to be a bit fanatical about there pets. just because we dont go totally overboard with waterchanges and worry ourselves sick about ever morsel we feed the fish dosent make us bad fishkeepers. before flaming us and throwing factsheets at us maybe they should just take a min and think hmm... maybe there is an alternative way of doing this. they may well be right sometimes, but hey sometimes so are we..:)

I got the same excuse about water issues when I did saltwater. They said my parameters were messed up, my test kit must be bad and to buy another. So I took a photo of the testing and shown all the tubes and the water was just fine. :screwy:

Is this the first time you've moved your Fahaka? They all do that.. They don't like being moved or having things change in their tank. Mine stays in his corner for a few hours after I do a water change!
there is no mbu in the vancouver aquarium. it is a huge fahaka puffer and i took the youtube vid that shows it
