After all the excitement I am a bit dissapointed in the black rays that have been imported. Everybody has been promising me black diamonds and eclips espezial and I have been sent pics of the same "super" rays by four different people but nobody can deliver, it is pathetic! Some standerd 3-2-1 leos have come and some half decent black diamonds and eclips but nothing i would really like to buy. It sucks.
Where are the "supadupa" rays we have all been waiting for?

Probably its because for some reason CB rays tend to look better even if their parents were average looking WCs. Maybe we are spoiled after a few years of line breeding.

breeding rays is still in its infancy there hasnt been enough generations bred in captivity to improve on their looks with line breeding....The rays people are looking for AAA are needles in a hay stack and not the norm...

This is human behavior....now leos are available but people dont want a regular leo anymore,,, again looking for something they cant get.

Im sure some specials will come in but again the percentages are small.

You have to be realistic with ur expectations...

I do agree that ray breeding is in its infancy but take marble motoros for instance. There are a couple breeders here that have some decent adults, however, their pups are simply stunning. Now Ive never bred rays my self, but to me it always apprears that CB do look better then their WC parents.

Plus when it comes to black rays we are seeing alot of leoxhens coming out that typically will knock the socks off when it comes to pure looks then a regular leo.

Also look at CB P14s vs WC. They CB ARE nicer looking. The caveat is that we dont have many examples to go on, but I am going on what little sample Ive seen.

Talk about never satisfied! 3 months ago you were licking your chops to get some wild leos, now there boring & standard:screwy:

I agree 100% Months ago anyone would want ANY leo they could get their hands on.

Actually I was pretty sceptic, it was the people importing that got my hopes up. And yes I do want the best, I always did. If that makes me human and not "God-like" so be it.
Reading the title of the thread again I might have put it a little more subtle.:ROFL:The rays are nice enough but over here in Europe the normal leos are being bred like crazy and to me it doesn't make that much sense to bring more in. You could argue by saying it is fresh blood, but believe me when I say there is so much different blood here that you can breed uncountable bloodlines if you get organised.
JD you do have a point that the offspring does often look a lot better than the parents, a good example are p14's. Galaxy Royal are popping up from parents that don't look very special at all. The F2 offspring is even better. The same goes for the other species aswell.
Still I am hoping to find one of these needles I can't get, or I can't get enough of.
