Well, I haven't gotten the chance to finish up the build on tank stand, laziness... lol
I did however get a chance to finish up my top/hood. When putting this aquarium together I was struck by a few threads about using pothos to lower nitrates in my aquarium.
Shameless plug, two of my favorites: http://www.monsterfishkeepers.com/f...ly-filtration-(why-not-popular-in-the-hobby-) (the one that got the idea going) and http://www.monsterfishkeepers.com/forums/showthread.php?504763-Cheap-plants-less-nitrate!-POTHOS (used this one to get another look at the idea)
So off we go:
I've been staring at this plant for the last 2 weeks, it was time to get this done!
I have been using a spare piece of glass in my "pothos hole" on my top since I built it.
I wasn't 100% sure for the longest time how I was going to suspend the pothos in my tank. I finally broke down and figured I would just try hanging it into the water by sitting it in a piece light diffuser panel. I was originally going to cut it to size with tin snips but decided that an angle grinder would get it done quicker!
TA-DA!... it fits!
Plant, broken down, separated and washed
Roots just hangin' out
So far none of the fish have shown any interest in eating the roots, if they do start to tear them up I will encase them in a basket, how I originally had planned to.
Plants up top, I really like the way they have extended the plant life from the water fall; I can't wait until they start growing vines!
Just for fun. A shot of the tank from yesterday
Thanks for looking and Happy New Years!!!!
