We are setting up a new (Used saltwater) tank and the boy wants a cat fish.

What is a type that wont grow to 3' + as i don't want to smother it in a 75gal tank Or if any catfish is a bad idea.

Also what other types of fish would be best playmates and not a dinner plate.

Once we can figure out what we want to keep i can start getting parts to finish this build up.

A 3' would make some good eats but think some one might be missed.

yes going fresh .

thanks for the hint on the pimelodus species maxing out at 5" should give lots of room for other to mingle. Any other good lookers i could toss in along with the kids fish that will not eat and beat the small guy ( other then the Alpha male) or require a range in water ph that would kill one or the other

A sun cat/eclipse cat maxes out at 8-10 inches and are gorgeous, a lace fin sydontis maxes out at 6 and is pretty with less color. Never had a tonof luck with pims, but they are energetic, but if something fits in their mouth its as good as gone.

Farawella cats get to about 12 and are neat looking.

Theres always the option of a school of corys. The lazer corys ive been seeing lately are drop dead gorgeous.
