Walmart probably has setups in the $150 range or lower. The filter is probably not as good(I think it's an aquatech or whisperer cartridge type). A lot better than someone keeping large fish in a 10 gal though. The 10 gal setups don't include heaters, so I don't know about the 55s. He probably wasn't including the stand when he said $150.
 
man im so tired of hearing this about huge fish in small tanks! i wish the lfs have to make sure they sell huge fish to people with huge tanks! i took a 10'' O from this guy with a 15 gallon tank with brown water that was half full!!! i was at a lfs the other day some guy was bringing in 3 16'' i.d. sharks ya 16 '' NEVER SEEN THAT before big as hell! and he had them im in a 60 gallon! wtf im so tired of fish living in hellish conditions!!! thats my 2 cents
 
Cheap tanks are out there if you keep looking, I waited a couple of months looking everyday on CL and asking at every fish store I visited and a couple of days ago I got a call from my LFS about a little old lady who just wanted her tank gone. I picked up a complete 125 stand to lights filtration and everything for 200bucks, she would have taken less, but I would have felt bad. When I got there, the thing looks brand new (its dated '01).

Then today she called me to tell me she wants here 55 gone too and tomorrow I'm picking it up with everything stand to lights even the fish for $25. That's right 25. I'm giving it to my friend so his African's will have some more space, and he's pumped too. So it goes to show you, if you want it bad enough, just keep looking, great deals are out there. I also have an offer from another guy for a 125 he'll sell me for $100, but its just comes with the stand, lids, and lights. (Tank is not for sale,except to me, so don't ask, sorry)

All the SO's around here use Colt, nobody pays 1200 for a Bushmaster:grinno:

if you saw just how beat up one of their noses were, you would most likely agree they were in a tiny tank. i keep pacu, and i know they bump stuff and hurt their faces. but one of them was just beyond what ive seen.

i wouldent doubt his 55g claim tho. aside form sounding dead serious, ive seen oscars/pacu and even rescued one of my pacu from water that was comparable to pea soup, no joke. and their still alive today. albeit stunted (my big pacu the prime example. was kept in soupy water in a 30g, no heater or filter. he's now 3-4 yrs old,. and ONLY 17", while my other pacu at a year are close to his size. he was 2-3 yrs old, and 6-7" when i stole him from my girls brother)

on a positive note...i used to see 1-2 TANK FULLS of red bellies at my 2 lfs. now, i dont see them anymore for quite a few months. and if i do, its only a handful.

because i have a bad habit of letting my temper get the best of me, and saying things i shouldent. so im smart enough to avoid situations like that. its animal abuse in my opinion, no different than cramming a big dog in a training crate 24/7. so i somehow doubt i would have said anything pleasant.

plus i do like being allowed to shop at that store from time to time

I sure didn't:D, Bushmaster is just a way spend more tax payers money on a nice but little overpriced rifle. I like mine though never had any problems. I've also got a Colt Gold Cup Defender model 1911 .45 too...that baby is sweet.
 
i quess the only good thing is he brought them into the LFS..how sad!
