props to you stoned fish. i've never heard of heaters burried in the substrate. i always thought you needed water to swirl around the heater to evenly heat the tank. but if it works, then at least you don't see them.
as for the dat, he's getting punked by somebody, if he's staying there long enough to get burned.
although there is an animal(i forget maybe frogs) if you put in cold water and turn to knob to boil, it doesn't even realize its getting cooked.
in short, get a gaurd.

I do not think the fish is dumb, there are no heaters in the wild so why would they think any non-living thing would hurt them by touching it.
it don't take much to get a burn either its not like it was sitting there for a few min as it was burning. one touch does it. Especially if you have only 1 heater working on 60 gallons of water
Oh by the way, i am not sure who told you NTT (think thats what u said u had) were like oscars but there not. Oscars are fish that live to eat and are always on the top of the tank for NO other purpose then to eat. they dont swim around because they have peronalities they do it because they are looking for food 100% of the time. To me this would suggest they are the stupid fish haha. NTT are very timid and will usually hide most of the time.
