thanx...i have read this aswell, but that if i remember right was all the trout mixed...i am only talking brookies...i plan to have them for as long as they live witch should be longer then the average, but i don't have their ages now so i can only asume they are 3-4yrs old at this size from that small creek...

I don't spend much time in the Native section and was not aware that you can convert a fridge to a chiller. Perhaps this is a project worth taking on one day.

i was the same way...i always was concerned about getting rays and aros that i kinda forgot this awsome sp is out my back door...i also though it was out of my reach and left it at that...then i caught one 4" brookie out of this stream and though...i WILL do this...and here we have it...
 
well this morning i saw that someone bumped the heat up in the house from 65f to 75f:irked: the tank is next to a vent so it go to 68f and the trout were lathargic...so i did a wc and brought the temp down to 54-56f...with in 1 min of the temp drop the trout we reborn...crusing the tank and pounding the guppies i put in...:headbang2looks like i found the key temp...put to rest all the places i have read that they will do good at 72f:screwy:...i have alot of airation aswell...as soon as i can get a good signal with my phone i will post some more pics from today...
 
How many days have you had these fish as of now? I wish you all the luck in the world, but I am skeptic. A bubbler and cool temps ain't all that these fish need.

i have had these fish now 2 days, not long but longer then they would have been in a novice possetion also they are readily eatting now witch is the best sighn that it will work...they are eatting and very active...i don't have a problem with skeptics, but if an accomplishment is made then the skeptisum should be renounced...i am doing what everyone wants to do but don't...this is an experiment as their is no "trout care for dummies" and it is a learning process...i have found the temp range in witch these trout fell comfertible and are doing well...they are really no diff from other fish, cool clean water, high DO and stabe conditions...i have spent hours and hours/ days and days studing these fish and habitat...they live in creeks, bever ponds and lakes...they are an adaptible sp. with lots of potental...as i stated before i am one of the best suited for this project as i am well known in trout and trout behavior...they are my specialty...i will keep updating this thread and on their progress or issues i see with them...they are doing the normal trout agressive behavior and acting the way they should...
 
Just a thought. If you have any powerheads laying around (Unless there is one already in it, can't tell ;)), you could hook that up in the tank, and get a 'bubble wand' stuck in front of the flow from the powerhead. Spread the oxygen through-out the tank, and make it seem more like a stream. :)
Anyway, great looking fish, wish I could find some in my area. :D

i have a powerhead and the 'bubble wand' you are talking about, but i don't think they really need it...there is good flow with the 2 filters and air stones...the powerhead is kinda a pain to have as it is old and doesn't stay stuck even with new cups...also i would have to get another powerstrip every outlet in the room and strip/extention cord in the house is in use by tanks:ROFL:...we put the computer on the bar so i could put a 55gal were it was and i just got a 2gal glowfish/beta tank for the daughter...i put that on the bar also:ROFL::ROFL:...i told my wife that when i get the 600gal the sofa goes:naughty:




they are eatting like crazy...i added some gutloaded feeders that i have in a feeder/jar grow out tank to see if they would go for them and they did...
 
i was thinking bout getting another tank and putting trout in it as well. they look good.
