  • We are currently upgrading MFK. thanks! -neo
he may have been a lil bigger bout thats about it. i had them years ago and i believe they grew to the tank thats why i traded them in. that pic is was taken way before i traded them.

Yeah thats some pretty severe stunting for a dovii. What was the water change schedule like?

View attachment 943799View attachment 943800 my breeding pair of dovii had them about 5 years before i traded them in cause they outgrow the 75 gallon tank. they spawned almost once a month and would let the fry grow to about 2 inches before i was forced to move them or they became dinner. left pic is my male he was about 8 1/2 inches and right is my female she was about 6 inches when i traded them.

Here's my big boy and oldest fish in my fish room now! Big Rig the Dovii coming in right at 12" and just around a year old.

i did weekly water changes for them so that wasnt an issue/ i think he grew to the tank and slowed up after that.

Fish do not grow to the size of their tank, they will get so big and their body starts stunting and growing deformed to some extent wether internally or externally. Fish never stop growing but do slow down once that given species gets to their genetically predetermined "max" so to speak, like dovii getting to the 18-20 inch mark and slowing to a creep. That's one of the unfortunate fish room myths.
