They look great to me man. Hopefully the tail issue just heals up for u. Doesn't look irritated or anything...
Ya I hope it heals up. Not sure if she is going to shed them or not.

I had my small snow male in with the girls trying to power feed to get him caught up. I think he has been bugging her so she retaliated and now the little guy has bite marks on his disc. I wonder if he was biting her tail spikes??…

That seems more red and irritated from the first set of pics? But kind of looks like she might just shed them. Never saw this before. Looks super healthy besides. Eating well??

She’s eating but I wouldn’t say well. She doesn’t move around much, which was my indication to start investigating. When she eats she lifts up her disc a bunch, which is somewhat normal for her, but very exaggerated right now.

The male is still smashing food, and growing well. His claspers are looking better than ever, I think he’s going to be ready soon, if not already is.

the female seems to be doing better but I wouldn’t say she is 100% acting normal yet. But she is eating much better than my last update. CCCED796-E984-4BCB-9CE7-3E15B49F9761.jpeg57E10601-0C64-4A9E-B1C7-A0AF22B55450.jpeg6B7FE38E-2F54-47B9-A2F1-1954F4738FC1.jpeg

well done. can you give us an idea of the growth rate? What size were they when you got them and how big they are now in what period of time?

Well funny that you ask because I was just thinking about doing an update on here.
Looks like I landed them on September 30/19 at roughly 3-4” the smaller female which I still have was closer to 3” and the male was bigger at 4” disc. He has continued to always be slightly bigger up until just the last few months I have been feeding him less and her more.

which makes this my 2 year update

They are now both roughly 12” and seem to both be stuck at that size for a while now. I feed a decent amount every day and keep the water fairly clean. The male has a foot print of 7x2.5 and the female is in a footprint of roughly 8x3

the male gets fed 1 time every day and the female gets fed 3-4 times daily. I have been trying to get her caught up to him but it has been a struggle

Update time.

my female has been bullied by what seems to be all of her tank mates since being in the blue bin. She has not been doing very well at all. When I pulled her out of the blue tub her head was caved in and her hips were showing and she was curling. I called my wife into see her and without missing a beat she offered to go dig for worms in the garden for her at 11 pm. I couldn’t have asked for a better woman.

once I realized she was being bullied I put her in a basket to monitor her. As soon as the 300g acrylic was caught up on bacteria I put her in there basically all to herself. So her majesty has a new home for now with a personal servant who hand feeds her 3-4 times a day and vacuums 1-2 times every day to ensure her heart environment is pristine (don’t tell my wife about the daily chores???)

she has been eating and starting to pull through now after a few days her appetite is slowly increasing. I’m so happy I haven’t lost her (again) and I am not planning to let her see the male for at least 3-6 months from now. I want her to be strong and healthy again before even thinking about trying to breed her.

My male is doing amazing, eating like a champ, strong as ever. Almost curled and ready to go. He often squabbles with the other boys in the tank and is becoming less of the alpha believe it or not, even though he is the biggest. ?

I have been a bit worried about the male destroying the female trying to learn how to breed. So I picked up a new girlfriend for him to practice with. She is much bigger than he is so she can handle herself much better. I’m fact I am more worried that she may destroy him than anything ?. She has a bit of a past in which she may have already killed an immature male who pissed her off too much. ☠

she’s 20” disc so she makes the 300g tub look pretty small, so I am now back on the hunt for bigger tanks (as if that has ever stopped ??)
