Did you specify you want the big ones ? if no its your fault bud.

Yes, but.....in a tank w/so many different sizes the clerk could have asked him what size feeders he needed. Few employees care or are even aware of the whole customer/vender relationship and how that affects business. "what's one pissed off customer? Another one will be along in 2 minutes." They make the same hourly wage regardless of customer satisfaction levels. The only time they feel the bite of the bad service is when the place goes belly up and they are looking for a job. I doubt many people would associate being a bad employee with the store going outta business. I'm in sales and repeat business feeds my family. Every misspoken word or less than stellar performance on my part can cost me BIG money.

....and more to the point of this thread.......The Store manager should have had that conversation in PRIVATE. Very unprofessional.

But then again the customer could have told the clerk what size to get. The customer wanted the feeders, the employee is just trying to get the customer some feeders. Simple as that. Could go either way.

Have you worked in a retail environment or in a pet store?

7/10 customers are nice and are eager to listen and hear your input. The other 3/10 hate even walking in your store, they only do it because you sell the product for your specific animal. They get mad when you ask for help or do not listen at all or even be nice. They get mad when there isn't 6 open lanes at once when it's 10:30 in the morning on a Tuesday. I just wish these 3/10 customers understood all we really do for them, that's it.

Yeah but this is a forum where 99.99% of the people are customers, and frankly Ive worked in retail but I dont go to those forums to complain about my job.

I'm tring to let the "customers" understand. To each his own.

Petsmart:
No trade-ins.
No adoption for fish nor any animals....unless you leave them at the front foor. Has happened quite a few times before, not just fish too.

:)
I might be putting your quote out of context. But, I have worked at the same Petsmart store for going on 5 years now.

If an animal is "defective", then we are required to adopt it out for free using an adoption form. This means, hamsters with gimp legs, reptiles with lost tails, fish with one eye, etc... if the animal is not "whole" and healthy, it's adoptable.

If you ever enter a Petsmart store, ask them about small animals/reptiles/fish for adoption and they may or may not have some available. If you happen to see an animal on the floor that is obviously defunct, ask a manager about adopting it and they most likely will allow it.

That's how all the stores up here run, anyway. I cannot speak for other parts of the country but I'm fairly certain it's in the general pet policies.

This was pertaining to if we adopt animals. We adopt out but we don't take a fish or rabbit for example if someone calls and asks if we will take it. :) But yes we run that way too.

nver seen a petco that takes in large fish. or has even large fish for sale.
