u dont get my point.
i didnt know you were trying to make one ;) but seriously though, if you can make your fish grow faster, why not? no harm done

Ummmm if my wife boils me 12 steamed clams, and I know I can put down a 100 with melted butter, I'm gonna take it. The fish come up to the top and infront looking at me when I'm present, so that tells me their saying feed me siemore. So....I do, I dont get it, and with all do respect, state your point. I know what they do in the wild, I've seen a 12" mono with a 9" talipia in its mouth, is that normal.

I also doubt that they're eating frozen bloodworms and pellets in the wild neither.

i really dont know why your all so obsessed with getting them big so fast. its not a race. I dont have any proof behind me but i would think in the wild they would only find food as they do not very slimly not excessivly. in moderation, maybe thats an aspect to why they look nice?

For me, I need them to grow so I can put them with my other Cichla so I don't have so many random tanks around the house. :D

agree, the frozen bloodworms is good too. The fact that there growing means their getting all nutritional values they need. If kept on a diet of bloodworms, to me that is not good, its like 90% moisture and very little in vitamins and nutrients. All do respect cichlaryan, i just dont get your point, the fish are growing because there getting what they need at a young age, when they hit the 5-6" mark, they slow down.

broooooooooo! i had the EXACT same thing happen, except it was with a feeder goldfish. i tossed in one feeder goldfish about the same size as the orinos. they immediately swarmed him and kinda left him alone when they realized he was too big to eat. a few hours later i see them picking at the goldfish's face. his eyes were friggin GONE!!!!!! :eek: it's funny how they can tell apart their own kind and they all kinda gang up on the goldfish.

i wish i could have seen the start of the frenzy. would have been cool to see how they decided to attack it :)

These dudes are Roothless! I seen a Barb that I like and wanted to know how they do with other fish aside from their own... So I went to a LFS and seen a Bala Shark (as the tester before I purchase the more expensive barb). I tossed in the Bala after acclimating him and he was swimming... naturally was drawing attention to the ever so hungry Orinos. The Bala shark is about 4"... and the orinos are 2-2.5" now. As yesterday went on I would check on the Bala/Orinos... everything was all good. Fins in place, not to much activity except the Orinos looking
hungry...again:ROFL:

Woke up this for work at 4am to see a Face-less Bala Shark hardly swimming. You couldnt even see where the eyes use to be. it looked like the Bala Shark got his face stuck in a Power head and swam to tell about it. No, lips/mouth, no eyes.... his face had some meat but you can see right thru to the otherside of the tank... you would of never ever known where his eyesokets went. I felt bad and tossed him in thr freezer....

I guess there goes my Idea of a Tankmate for now:eek:

DAYUM.:WHOA::WHOA::WHOA:

For myself, I am feeding heavy cause I want them to get big a.s.a.p.
I did my research before I got them so Im trying to get them to that stage. Like any other fish... Once they reach Adult size is what attracted us in the first place. If I wanted them to stay small I would have bought some Blue Rams or something that size...
And it is a race... a race between me:ROFL:... which one of my pack I can get the biggest:naughty::D
Id say my biggest is close to 3" and the average size Orino is about 2.5"-2.75"... they are growing quick:headbang2
