indeed. I even use the other parts of the meat that are normally tougher and otherwise "unwanted" - it's great to use as a venison version of chopped sirloin for stir fry, stews, etc or you can just grind it and make burgers or sausages

A lot of the hunters and fishermen out here are pretty wasteful, I let nothing I kill go to waste(and I have been known to scavenge what people leave behind), skulls and bones make good yard decorations,entrails are fed to fish and turtles in ponds,duck carcasses are fed to local wildlife etc
 
Their easy to catch in the winter, as the water level goes down. They bunch up eddy currents, near fast moving water. Same place walleyes congregate.
I grilled one last year, just as an experient. They can not be filleted, too many Y bones. The bones are quite large, no worse that eating a trout.
 
A blind taste test study showed that grilled or fried Asian carp tasted better than walleye,crappie or channel catfish.

There are a lot of fun ways to fish for these guys such as:spear,sword,revolver with tungsten shot,shotgun with steel shot,trident ,net or whatever the heck else u can get away with.
I don't know were you live but firing a weapon into a body of water here would likely see you either in jail, bankrupt and definitely never seeing said weapon again. same goes for any handheld weapons used on fauna, regardless of invasive status.

The rib cage, cut from the middle of the dorsal find back to the end of the cavity. Has y bones only in the top back.
I oven baked it at 350F for 40 mintutes. The meat peels of the bones easily.

Yep. I thought you were just supposed to make fertilizer out of them. I've never seen anyone eat them.
Back in the olden days, people in the the northeastern US/Canada used to catch [Maine]lobster for the sole purpose of fertilizer. It was not considered human food.....how times have changed.

I find most Americans are so wimpy when it comes to food. Its typically just the same-old, same-old chicken, beef, or pork. Even then, its just the meat....no organs or any part of the creature.

It has a very mild flavor, similar to walleye, or crappie. The texure is medium soft, but is similar to red meat, in feel.
Sort of like pulled pork.
Has a dark meat strip at lateral that's very fishy. But easily removed, my cat went crazy for the dark meat. Probably an awesome mink or coon bait.

at least they are useful for something here in the U.S.
