just one question .. if SEC defenses are as great as everybody tells me ,how come JOHNNY FOOTBALL AND AARON MURRAY DROP 40 ON EVERYBODY'S all world d's every week.. maybe GOOD qb's eat defenses alive, just like..EVERY OTHER CONFERENCE?
Actually, the SEC was known for great defenses, but at the rate these kids are going to the NFL, its getting harder and harder to keep talented player in school (LSU for instance). The phrase Defense wins Championship is true ot form, and the SEC has proven that over the last 6 years, however there is about to be a changing of the guards with these high power offense and fast paste offense, like the NFL. Being an LSU fan, I watched the Georgia vs LSU game (almost 100 points scored), and knew that would be the end of the SEC as we know it. Alabama is still trying to hold on with there Defense, but it's no where as strong as it use to be. I think the ACC is about to turn the tables. As for the playoff system, bad for tradition, but good for seeing teams play that you other wise would never get to see unless it came down to the final BSC game. I would love to see Ohio, Bama, Orgeon, Clemson, Stanford, and use to be USC mix it up. This is going to be a plus for some conferences and a curse for others. I know the SEC has to be tired of beaitng up and elimintaing each other. JMOP

The NCAA governing body doesn't control the conference lay out. If they did, they would not have allowed some of their biggest cash cows such as rivalry games to disappear . the only thing a playoffs will do is give teams a reason not to schedule tough non conference games

very astute,, THE NC -double- you know's, doesn't control anything about college football EXCEPT eligibility , and compliance to the governing rules ,, the BCS and TV are where the power is in college football... IN an interesting side note the ONLY PROFIT MAKING venture the NCAA controls is MARCH MADNESS, they OWN the rights and name

I would not be surprised to see this governing body dissolved in the next 10 years and something else put into place. The schools are getting too big and making too much money for them to even properly police compliance

wouldn't suprise me in the least,, but they gonna make some big bucks off the rights to MARCH MADNESS, to tell you my honest opinion ,, the BASKETBALL TOURNAMENT is probably the ONLY reason they are still around today, they are probably clinging to it like scrap wood for a TITANIC passenger

So tonite NBC gonna show the nation USC and Notte Dame. THAT'S just clueless
