  • We are currently upgrading MFK. thanks! -neo
I too chose to work in education when working at the zoo failed my expectation. definately more rewarding then picking up dung every day and much better job security. Can you say recession proof!

OMG - I thought Fridays were suppose to be easy, I am running the book fair here at school and caught a freakin first grader stealing!!!!

Stealing is bad all around, but look on the bright side. "a FIRST grader stealing a BOOK!"

I don't think you necessarily have to work in education to know the merits and significance of this.

Negative people kill good teachers. They drag them down and wear them out. I worked with a few negative people. It sucks. Of course I hate people who whine, so when they come to me, I tell them to stuck it up. So it is every where. Good schools, bad schools they all have them.

I was lucky, they fired all the staff at my school but 5 people (including office staff). All the positive people stayed. Anyone who was not carrying their weight was cut. Now had we had a union that would not have happened.

The new staff is so great. It makes my job so easy!

Also most the teachers in this lounge are probly the good ones. Even the good ones need to vent. We had a great venting session last yesterday.

I tell you like I tell my kids. I have been offered far better paying less stressful jobs, but I turn them down every time to come back in to be with them.

:)

Also I think it helps teachers to vent to others who realize and have been through the same thing. Average teacher in Cali drops out before hitting the 5 year mark. One thing I always thought they should teach in the credential program is how to cope with all the stress, sadness, etc.

Lets keep on supporting each other guys! :headbang2

To others reading this, please dont think that teaching is all bad. For every bad moment there are 10 great moments!

yeah my main post was not meant for the good teachers other than how do we change the bad ones.Mainly I was wondering how bad it is in other towns too,the staff can be the worst, but like we all know, its not all of them.I guess I just wanted to give praise to the good workers and hopefully wake up some of the poop heads.Ive got lots of teacher friends,by far not all are bad, never meant to sound that way.Have a good day guys, late.

yea, teachers do need a place to vent, otherwise we'd just go plain crazy (see it happen from time to time). I'm fortunate to have a great staff to work with, we did clean house last year as negative people don't last long at my Houston diciplinary school (where the kids ya'll kick out go, send us some better ones:irked:).

My fav story (good one):

My first year and our new school. One girl in my advisory (homeroom on roids) come into school with a Corona bag and shoes. Says, I got almost all F's last year. I hate you and I do not want to be here. I laid into her. Told her, well you are here. So you better start taking advantage or this year is going to be horrible. After a battle for 3/4 of the year. Having to kick her out a few times, she figured it out. She is now an A student, full time at our partner community college. She had to do an end of the year presentation about what she did. She was the 1st student ready to present. At her presentation to my surprised she thanked me. Said I was the reason she turned her self around. He mother was afriad she would not make it out of High school. Now she is applying to major universities. She will get into whichever she wants!

It feels good to kick these kids butts daily. Kill yourself to see them do well in the end.

I think to get rid of bad teachers we need to get rid of tenor-ship. Once you make tenor its almost impossible to get fired or let go...
