I would have given at least that. Whatever your excuse for breaking the rules was, it's will always be just that... an excuse. As a student you do not have the option of creating your own educational moral code.
If you have an issue with an assignment, it is your responsibility to approach the teacher as early as possible and discuss alternatives. If you fail to do so, or do not take advantage of any other acceptable alternatives, like sceduling time in the media center (without ditching), using computers at the public library, or visiting a family friend with a computer, then you are stuck with the natural concequences of your decisions and inability to adapt to the demands of educational performance.
In school, just as in life, there are always hardships and obstacles. It is our ability to face these obstacles, finding the best ways to achieve in spite of hardships, that defines our success.
Excuses just comfort us in mediocrity!
