  • We are currently upgrading MFK. thanks! -neo
haven't said much lately, going back to school for administration... getting the principal license. A side note, lets say I found two student off limits (bathroom). You fill in what they were doing...

worst bathroom floors are nasty...really...

I am now, as a result of a two day seminar in Naples Florida with my wife, certified by the state of Florida to train crossing guards. A dubious honor, but a free mini vacation with the wife and two days off work... who says teaching doesn't have its perks!

I have a question for you teachers.. would you give a student a 3 day suspension for ditching a required assembly to finish homework? (He can't afford a computer so he was in the library trying to get it done) Because my friend did just that today and got a three day suspension.. we all think it's way to harsh.

Would you have given a punishment that severe, teachers?

I would have given at least that. Whatever your excuse for breaking the rules was, it's will always be just that... an excuse. As a student you do not have the option of creating your own educational moral code.

If you have an issue with an assignment, it is your responsibility to approach the teacher as early as possible and discuss alternatives. If you fail to do so, or do not take advantage of any other acceptable alternatives, like sceduling time in the media center (without ditching), using computers at the public library, or visiting a family friend with a computer, then you are stuck with the natural concequences of your decisions and inability to adapt to the demands of educational performance.

In school, just as in life, there are always hardships and obstacles. It is our ability to face these obstacles, finding the best ways to achieve in spite of hardships, that defines our success.

Excuses just comfort us in mediocrity!

Yikes! I assume you've been there long enough to be safe from the axe.

Our district has managed to get by with no new hires for the last couple years. By the way, how many teachers are in your district? We don't even have 200 teachers in my district!

^ Dan, I have 9 years of experience and 6 years in my current district and I STILL got a preliminary layoff. They are cutting teachers up to 7 years back! Preliminary is just the first warning, MAY 15 we know for sure.

We also just went to a 30 students ratio and KILLED art, music, and pe.....

Again, this is insane!!!!

That really is crazy! I wish you luck, it sounds like it will be a close call. If you have an ESOL endorsement you could get a job up here in a heartbeat. I'm not sure how well you would adjust to the slow country lifestyle, however. :D

We are at around 25 students per class. We lost music last year, and P.E. this year as well. Next year we are reconfiguring to allow our P.E. teacher to teach P.E. again - it will stretch us a little thin (7 teachers for 9 grades) but it will be worth it!

^ No cuts where you are at?
