Right?!?! These tanks don’t even have sumps. And are glass.....

I need to find a cheaper city to buy a good tank. I was thinking $200 tops for a 90gal w/sump and stand. Or without a sump. Usually $1 per gal makes sense....but people here asking $100 for a 10 gal lol.

It's a strong no from my parents right now. That's okay I can wait a bit; I have grad school apps to do anyways. The ones I've been seeing for 90 gals are $400-$500+ and this is glass/no sump. a little pricey imo.

Today I added an extra 10 pounds of black sand to the tank. Although I prefer the white substrate and it's a lot easier to see the polys on....I want to see if the mokes get more green. If I hate it (the tank looks like an oreo right now), I'll just add more PFS.
I've been following your thread for a while but this post made me laugh. I'm in much the same boat as you are. Also in school, living with parents, one of whom strongly disapproves of my new hobby. Also looking for a bigger tank. I'll have to sneak it into my room while they're not home and hope they don't notice for a while, lol.

Will you be posting pics of the modified substrate? I have PFS and like the way my poly stands out against it too. But I suspect he's becoming paler because of it and am considering adding some black to it. I'd be curious to see your tank if you make the substrate darker.

It use to be different but folks around here are now selling 125s for like 1k. I've been looking for a 180 for awhile but those are like 1500-2500 with stand. I guess people are trying to attach sentimental value to it or something. Failed sw tanks go for what they paid for it...yeah but it comes with live rock. Uh yeah algae infected starting your cycle over live rock.

Tank looks black without the light . Here’s a pic with lights on. From far away, difference is minimal. Up close, you can see much more black on the substrate.
