Good luck homes. These spine injuries are life changers. Dont be stupid like i was. I didnt take it seriously and paid for it with 2 surgeries and potentially another one possibly 2 more
I've been "lucky" so far no surgery. I've been seeing chiropractors for most of my life off and on though. When it's good it's good when it's not....life sucks. Luckily life only sucks a couple times a year.

When i 1st got hurt all i though i pulled my hammy, didnt have any back pain at all. Turns out that was actually the herniation pressing on the nerve. Like an idiot i put the surgery off, didnt want to be away from the gym that long....boy was that a bad decision lol

Well congrats on getting into PT schools, but I'm sorry to hear about the deferment due to your back. You know you can do PT for that. ;)

Do all schools require you to lift 100 lbs? That seems strange to me. Even doing transfers you're not physically lifting 100 lbs. And once in the field you can do outpatient ortho or something like that to avoid doing transfers most of the day....??? I'm confused. Plus, there have to be small women PT candidates out there who are only say 120. Why would you need someone to basically lift their own body weight?

Happy to hear the update on all of the polys. Hugs - I know you must be disappointed.

Thank you, everyone, for the words of encouragement. It really means a lot to me and I appreciate them dearly. All the Florida PT schools have similar physical requirements. I'm sure I could still lift 50+ /100+ pounds, but idk if could I do it SAFELY without my back hurting or permanently compromising my spine...especially after a few years of working as a PT. I'd be a small girl PT., so 100+ # is 75% or so of my body weight. Before the injury, it would have been no problem as I was a personal trainer and did powerlifting.

It isn't like the other overuse injuries I've accrued over the years from overtraining, cause I can't figure what sets it off. At this point, still doing exercises and mobility work a few times a week. It's been over 6 months, but the injury can take a year or more to heal. Guess it depends if I get physically cleared by the Sports Med/Spine specialist. I just don't want to compromise my safety, but want to be an expert in correcting form, exercise prescription, biomechanics, diagnosing injuries, and creating treatment programs. So currently looking at PT or if I should go into Sports Medicine/ Medical school.

In other news, I got the green light to upgrade the tank. Currently looking for a 125-180g acrylic.:newbie:
