Thanks for the responses!

I would rather run a bigger filter than 2 of them. The F306 was purchased to replace the AC110. I am not allowed to run both unfortunately. Do you have any suggestions for a filter where I’d only have to run 1 filter? That is the intention/goal of the filter upgrade.idk if that’s wishful thinking though.

Otherwise, I can just return it and wait until I get the 120 or 180 tank. What would the filtration options for that be? is it better to run different kinds of filters for every tank-even a sump?

Personally I like running two filters on all of my tanks. That gives me a backup in case one fails while i'm gone and i lose BB in one of the filters. I run 2 canisters on my 75 and 135 and 2 HOB's on my 40b. It's not something that you should feel you have to do, but it's just something i like to do.

Only reason why i say not to use both is its not a big tank all that flow may make the water too turbulent. Maybe not from what i read the 306 is rated for 300 gph. It wont move that but probably come close.

Does the store have a return policy after you use it ?

I think we we all (myself included) over think filtration. As long as your not getting ammonia or nitrite the filtration is sufficient.

If you want to quiet down the ac just raise the water level. If the noise is coming from the motor then the impeller might be scratched (cheap on amazon) if its the lid vibrating you could put something heavy on it like a small flower pot

If you are looking for something to filter your 120 /180 the 306 will not be enough. Id go with an fx5 or 6 if you want something for the future tank also. Or a comparable filter in another brand.
Haha can you imagine and fx6 on a 55 gal.

I run a sunsun 404b and an fx6 on my 135. I do filter maintenance twice a year on the sunsun and once a year on the fx6 (Sshh don't tell anyone). But that's not my polypterid tank. My polypterid 75 gallon has 2 sunsun 404's on it. I have a habit of overfiltering. I don't think this much is needed. In fact I could probably cut all these in half and be fine. BUT it's not hurting anything either.
