The unseen dangers lurking in our tanks

Oh, that's terrible. Loaches can't handle medications very well, usually only 1/2 the normal doses. I try to use almost zero chemicals....ask ewurm, he's a loach master-try sending him a pm, or just post a new thread about it. Did you test your water params? What are they? I wouldn't run charcoal with loaches. I do suggest the Almond tree or AKA Ketapang leaves, my fish LOVE them. What kind of loaches were they, and do you have new additions to your tank? I'm sure that's what introduced it to my tank.

Once I put the uv filter (Hagen is a nice brand, I'm quite happy with mine), you need to run it at about 33%, ie slow enough for the water to have time as it passes by the uv light, I hooked it right into my canister filter. Johnptc helped me with this, he's very knowledgeable.

Honestly, the uv is the only way I know of to rid the tank of the disease. I hope you read this entire thread, this is really serious, keep your hands OUT of the tank ungloved, I mean I was sick sick sick sick almost didn't make it sick. People die from this, it's just rare outside of the tropics.

Laughing because I cannot tell you how many times I've stuck an injured appendage in a tank. Fresh or salt and never a red mark, though I've heard stories. Cracking up because I live in Hayward, went to HHS and, imagine you shopping at Superway where we uncomfortably scoot past each other in Moon's small store. My main LFS. Anyways, glad your ok. OMG! You're hurting my brain! I needed a High School in the USA to graduate from, so I too was a Hayward Farmer.....please tell me the mascot for HHS is still not the Farmer....gads! My Hayward years were limited, but now I'm laughing again. ED is a freak thing that would only happen to me when I live FAR from the damn tropics!

If anyone had fish just dying, don't forget to check params, quarantine new fish, and blah blah do all of that stuff. Yeah, I'm still running around in Cattle OB gloves, I use the disposable ones and the blue/orange ones from Pacu Mom (thanks again!)
Now that the cattle are having babies, I'm about out of gloves....

i don't know how i missed this, but i hope to death your on ur way to perfect health meiling. reading your first post had me scared, then seeing the last post was you a few months later im glad to see you joking around how you normally are

i work on my tanks numerous times with cuts n stuff. my mom always freaked out about me doing that saying stuff like this could happen but i always blew her off thinking it was impossible. guess im going to be taking more precautions when working on my tanks. but i still can't believe that after what ur already going through, this happened. so glad ur doing better (or atleast i hope you are!) and glad to see you posting meiling
