My house
ok this is my first thread on this website so i thought i might tell a story. a bad story. so last week i come home i notie my tank is a little cloudy. no big deal? i decide to wait till the next day to do a water change. i leave for the night, then the next day when i arrive home i walk into my room to find that my tank is so cloud that i cant even see a few inches in. its horrible. i look into the tank to find my RTCxTSN, Channel Cat, BRAND NEW baby red tail cat, and red belly pacu floating at the top, dead as a doornail. I was soooooo angry. I dont know what could of caused it. I do regular water changes. My spotted gar, polypterus senegalus, marbled sail-fin pleco, brown african knife, and butterfly fish survived. i took all the remaining fish out and put them in a containment tank while i took all the water out of my other tank and put new water and salt in. So all in all, it was a bad day.

Did you check the water parameters? Hopefully you didn't put in too much salt. What kind of filter are you running? That's a lot of potential monster fish, any plans for housing them later?

yeah everything in the water was fine. and no i didnt put to much salt in. my other fish are doin great now. im running 2 emporor 400's, and rena xp2. and yeah i plan on getting a 500 gallon.

So, why did you add the salt? Did you test the water?

Sorry to hear of your loss, this is why when I first see something off, I test the water first off and I do the water change then. I'm not trying to be mean or a smarty pants...and who knows it still may of happened.

Good luck, welcome to MFK.....and keep us updated on what happens.

that's a lot of fish. i'm only curious: how big is your tank?
how much salt did you add per gallon?

how big was the tank? That may give you your answer

Do you have sand as your substrate? If you do how deep is it. I really not sure why all of the sudden your water went cloudy very weird. I would try to find out if your water might have ammonia or whether you might have medicated the tank with something.

This made me wonder....how long has the tank been set up? Was it fully cycled before you added everyone...had you added anything new to the tank that could of sent it into a "mini" cycle?
