Liz, you may want to give your local Fire Dept a call, maybe they would come over and give their opinion on what happened.

Liz, I don't know what to say other than I'm sorry. I feel horrible just reading and looking at that. If you ever need anything, just like Vanimate said, we're here for you.

I dont think they would have time to inspect it.

It was most likely too many things running of an extension cord which caused the fire..then the fire broke the glass and then the water put out the fire....

I am glad you didn't lose everyone, but you have my deepest sympathies. I hope you can recover from this, as well as your fish.

Believe me i thought of all the bad things that did not happen.. and i am in between cleaning up and my husband is now shop vaccumming.. i am sooo very thank ful my house did not burn and my other animals perish, yes this could have been a real disaster.. we had plugged everything into a extention cord so that the generator could also do that room.. and i am leaning into thinking that it was an overload and the explosion from that caused the pacu tank to explode.. and yes i am thinking the water from the 220 put the fire out.. what a nightmare all the fish must have witnessed.. if your going to have bad things happen you must also look at how much worse it could have been.. but this is really bad enough.. twilight zone ..

i believe this is what happened too although we will never know for sure.. this is the only logical thing i can rationalize ..since the explosion noise was so powerful and smoke followed almost right after..does any one know if a tank could sound that loud.. although the glass is in a zillion mainly small pieces ... so that must have been a major force..

Yeah it must be what happened because an extension cord can only supply power to so many things before it has to much power going through it and it heats up, also I work with glass and it looks like the glass got semi tempered from the heat but broke that's why it's in so many pieces.
