Thinking about a pleco

Hello everyone, I have a 120g (60x18x26) Tank that I’m raising a group of T. Aureus in, Ive been tossin Around the idea of putting a pleco in with them. And I keep seeing different fancy pleco’s and I’m wondering what might be the right fit.

I don’t want a pleco that gets super large
I don’t overly want a pleco that will demolish any eggs that may get laid
And I don’t need a pleco that cleans my tank it’s really just for my enjoyment. (I don’t want a standard bristlenose)

Here is a picture of my tank, I’m open to recommendations and opinions. Please feel free to share your information.

1st question is what is your current stocking?

15 one inch juvenile thorichthys aureus
6 Xiphophorus helleri

The Aureus will probably thin out as they grow and we see who gets along and the hierarchy
To end up with a harem

But at the moment this is my stock.

Do not get any fancy plecos! Once you start you’ll get hooked on them. That’s what happened to me.

what is your price range

do you have a color and or pattern preference?

I’d like to keep it under 100$ realistically, as for color and patterns I’m open.

I'm not sure about the personality of thorichthys aureus but if they are peaceful you could do an L169 Gold Stripe Panaque or L204 Flash Pleco they stay pretty small. You could also get a L137 Blue Eyed Red Fin Bruno they supposedly do get a little big(11") but I haven't seen any that big

T.Aureus are said to be the most peaceful of the Thorichthys this is my first time keeping them honestly. But everything I’ve read seems to correlate with this.

11 inches is abit big for what I’m wanting, I’d like to stay around 8 max I think. I will look at the ones you’ve suggested. Thank you, I see green phantoms and gold nuggets around me commonly, every once in a while a royal pleco. But I’m not Opposed to ordering one online either. I got my Aureus from wetspot, but I’ve ordered from Rapps before

I have two plecos, both only get to the 8in range.
L106 Orange seam pleco


L128 Blue Phantom pleco


Not sure about the no eating eggs tho, that may be my issues with no eggs from my JD's, I did take them both out to see if that helps.

I got them both from The Wet Spot, that's my LFS so I luck out in the regards. Decent price for them as well.
