that's why i'm quarantining them for 2 weeks before they go in. ive got a few from PS that have gotten ich within a couple days, like the cichlids in my 55

ok thats good

i posted a couple craptastic pics in the baby aro thread

guess I will just use this post to update how (s)he is doing. Still won't swallow pellets and its tail is healing nicely. This morning, I found half of one of my Black Phanton Tetras floating in the water. I also have had a couple other tetras disappear. Seems a little too small to swallow a whole one, but I cannot find them and the tank params are okay w/ no foul smell of rotting fish. Can't wait till it grows up a little and goes into the 55g.

nice
good to hear you have got a killer there in your tank :D
oh he is going to grow very fast if he is going for the tetras as food
try feeding him meal worms or beef heart or chicken heart (some fast growth recipes)
good luck

thanks. i do feed some frozen beef heart to other fish, i'll see if (s)he will eat some. i'll try some meal worms, too. my other fish would probably like some, too.

on, another note: i'm trying to plan out for the possible situation that he is too aggressive for the fish in my 125g. I don't care much about the cichlids i'm raising up, but just want to keep my options open. I am planning on getting a 240g (180 if i have to). If I need to put the jar in a 125, how long do you think it could stay in there? I realize I may have to get a 30" wide tank somewhere down the road, but i won't be able to for at least a year, maybe 2. I don't think it will get much more than 18" in 2 years, but I've never had a jar before. I'm thinking I may end up w/ a 180g w/ the fish that are currently in my sig and a 240 for my jar and some sa/ca cichlids.

if you want a fish to live with your jar then that fish has to grow with the jar, else i doubt that the jar will let it live in the same tank

well, i'm trying out what Brian said to try, so we'll see. it's too small right now to go in w/ the fish in the 55 or 125, anyway.

i am now down to 4 tetras (2 serpaes and 2 buenos aires) and the kuhli loaches. started off with about 10. found 1 dead floating behind the filter when i cleaned the tank tonight.
got a new pic. shows the healing damage to the caudal fin and the colors pretty well.

when mine was very very skittish till he reached 9"
now he is 12" though and still is not interactive but is not darting around the tank like mad everytime i come close to th tank

still is a little skittish, but getting better. didn't like me cleaning the tank, but got over it quickly.
