There is also the fact Sharks like hammerheads are apex preds and breed alot slower then deer so are kinda more important. Kinda, i know we should say one animal is more valuable then another but its unfortunately true.

Yes - sharks, like Hammerheads, Tigers, Bulls & Great Whites are Apex Predators. And We can learn from the situation of the Deer, and relate it to sharks. How?

Well - in several areas of North America - humans have killed of many of the deer's natural predators - such as wolves & cougars. Without natural predators to control their population - the Deer began to rapidly increase in numbers - potentially threating certain Human interests(like Farming). As such - now humans must act as the predator(in these areas) to keep the population in check.

Since - sharks are the top oceanic predators, killing them off opens the door to other species - some that may seriously harmful human interests in the oceans. The Lesson that should be learned hear - Killing off Apex predators(like Sharks) really upsets the balance of the natural eco-system.

I agree. And though some of you may swear that I wanted to flame her, LOL, that was not the intent by this at all, and at no point have I. And just as an FYI since this has come up a few times - I had already sent her a pm and would have sent her an e-mail had she not "opted not to receive e-mails". And whether or not she see's this or ever responds, does not truely matter, the intent of this was to call attention to a real issue which is devistating populations world wide (No, not just casual fishing), and is too often ignored simply because sharks are labeled "Killers" and "Mindless man eaters" - which is not the case, and a huge misconseption we fight to dispel each and every day.

Sharks are killed by the MILLIONS each year, through by-catch, poaching, finning, and various other acts of careless dissregard. Their populations are declining and some species are paying the ultimate price of being critically endangered and hunted. This is a shame, and there are many things we can do to stop this. Organizations world wide spend countless hours and private (out-of-pocket) funds to help protect and preserve these amazing animals, as well as educate the public, and seek out those who take life maliciously. It always has been, and will most likely always continue to be a never ending battle, but though the battle may rage on, the more advocates that take a stand and are proactive, the more significant change will be. What many never stop to consider, is that sharks are vital to the ocean's balance and without them, without any significant species, ecosystems falter and others suffer. It is a domino effect. Sport fishing for these animals has long since been popular, but is now much more regulated, and restrictive, and strives to preserve life, or consume life that is taken. There is no need for senseless waste, as where there is one allowed, there are many more to follow. That is not the path we want to be on. Though one person and one shark may seem insignificant to many, it is not the specific number, but rather the impact on others to which it can yield, the insight and passion it can produce. One person can affect many.. And many... Can enforce change.

Well I agree with this :) Sharks are and always have been my favorite animal that is not extinct..... YET... Infact it seems the only animal in the world that right now seems to only grow their populations is US :( Humans...

But I see your point and agree with your reasoning :) Maybe a change of title will lead others away from what they would rather see your intent be or see your intent as, and for what it really is :)

Maybe if Michael Vick killed that shark people would care.

Only if he electrocuted it or picked it up and slammed it on the ground.

The second option would be impressive.

Only if a person incarcerated for shark killing said so.. after all.. allegations are facts these days.

why can't girls just get along?

And i think it was quite immature to call out publicly, so everone as was stated could share their opinions before you found out what and why..

If it truly was your intention to not have this person flamed you would have in my opinion had enough respect to PM first :(

This site is deteriorating more and more by childishness like this :( I visit my favorite site "MFK" less and less each day do to this kind of action :( Not that my own the last couple days are any better...

Plus it seems your user name Waterbaby is in red.. :( And now that really saddens me.:(

You know what is funnier :D 03/21/2006 !!!! That was the last time she has logged in that is recent !!!

I think you should email her:) Chances are she'll NEVER read this :)

I agree with tongue.

I think its ridiculous that a mod of all people started this thread, yes its a shame and everything but an email or pm would be more appropriate...

Not trying to start flames here but its nothing the same hopefully. Did you eat the deer?? If not then yes really ya just as bad as the chick killing the shark, ya just lucky we arent on some deer lovers site.

A shark is one thing but what is the point of a deer head on the wall?? Wow you killed some grass eating animal who would have run away the second it saw you. I do get it takes some skill but its not exactly tough is it. Bit girly really.

Girly....Huh! Is this site run by peta? This crap makes me sick! If it wasnt for fisherman and hunters the population would be to great. Animals would be dieng from over population. So I think sport fishing and hunting is great...

I still do not see a problem with what she did. Nobody even knows the reason she killed it. SHe might have ate it? SHe may have found a dead shark...knobody knows.
