I realize that tank is not a good home..

Not one member of this board was born an experienced fish keeper. We all had to learn from other more experienced folks what works and what dont, in your case it was a disappointing lesson, however with mistakes comes knowledge, hopefully, and we study and read and even then make more mistakes, but it will come. Never get discouraged or feel inadequate in your hobby, just always strive to do better.

I'm going to give him the benefit of the doubt and say that he realized just how huge a LMB could be and that he couldn't properly house it for life. He couldn't release the fish, so he did the only thing he could do and euthanized it.
Because finding a new home for it was not an option? Seriously, seventeen hours from original post to killing the fish. I guess I'll just leave it at that as there are those here that frown on my negativity.
