I see no problem in removing invasive species.

The cichlids like Jaguars and other's are invasive but I find them great and would never even think of killing one . ESP since they don't bother native fish in the slightest.

Keep in mind for most part they are found in canals which are WAY to warm/hot for sunfish and non peacock bass.
They have truly filled an empty man made created niche .

All of S.Florida has man made canals used to regulate water .
Only thing that could live in these ultra warm canals other than mosquito fish are cichlids . The canals go from warm to hot I cant fathom sunfish or native bass living in that and have I never seen them in canals.

Walking catfish and snake heads are different but I have never seen one .

I don't buy the "don't eat what you catch" argument, although I don't think killing for the sake of killing is right. I've fished my whole life. Part of the pleasure is eating your catch. I used to catch lambari by the dozens with my grandfather. Then we would take them back to the house and fry them all and have a giant fish dinner with the family. Did we need to eat those fish? No, but it is part of the enjoyable fishing experience.

I to eat saltwater. I have eaten bass to but it wasn't for me. I mostly fish for tiny cichlids lol so don't eat them .

I rarely eat salt as is because I fish off beach or pier rare times I go and only fish that meet size, etc I have caught are off those party boats .

I am probably going soon as haven't gone in awhile .

yesterday i went into a fish market with my dad just to look at the fish. we saw Stripers that were about 20'' and Porgies about 9''. WAY to small. There were Fluke that were too small. There was the head of a Patagonian Toothfish, and...what pisses me off big time...Scrod. Scrod is baby Cod. These fish never get to breed once and never pass on their genes. Whiting about 8'' but IDK the regulations on Hake (EG Whiting)
On party boats people keep Skate, Smoothhound and lots of shorts. I remember being about 9 on one of those boats and seeing a few Asian Men keeping short Fluke (Summer Flounder) and when they got to the dock they spotted DEC officers. In to the bay go the dead shorts. Luckily they were caught. The most illegally kept fish up here is Bluefish. I think the NY limit is only 8 fish under 8''long. people fish with herring sabiki rigs and get half that much per cast. people keep tiny little cunners, anchovies, cocktail bluefish 4 inches long, etc and it makes me mad because there is no use for 3'' anchovies!

yea people are dumb i dont know why you would take cunners
i hate when people just stack bluefish up in their boats and keep all of them you can catch a million bluefish a day in LI sound around 4 pounds
people who take little fish to eat should be castrated, although the stripers came back in so much force the baitfish population (shad and herring) have disappeared in Ct more stripers gotta be taken or else they will eventually wipe themselves out by eating all the forage

i dont know why people want to keep blues either they really are awful eating

here in MD we can live line anything, but ya stripped bass we call them rock fish here :nilly:tastes amassing there are some strict laws on rockfish.

they should prolly bring up the limit on stripers just so that people take more fish and the baitfish population can rebound

bottom feeder, people in mass have gotten busted because they catch 50 stripers to sell to the asian markets :irked:
