LOL! :D

Guys, this fish is 43 years old, it is fine. If it was being harmed it would have died a long time ago.

The old surviving vs thriving debate. In the video the fish struggles to turn in the tank, no one can see that and think it's ok.

didn't see this +1

Yea. The only saving grace I see for this guy is its in a store with lots of people, so at least he has stuff to look at.

I agree though, I feel it wouldn't be that hard to move him to a tank 12" wider so he can turn around at least.

The whole "shock of moving" is not that bad for freshwater, especially if it's just moving to a new tank in the same store, not shipping cross country.

Plus, how terrible of an example is this for people new to fish keeping? He says they declined in popularity because people saw how big they get but everyone walking in sees a 'professional' keeping a monster in an inadequate tank. How then are you going to convince them it's not ok?

Agreed on the "shock of moving" cop out and at least would be baby pacu buyers might have a chance to see what they might be getting themselves into.

Any body any guesses on size of that tank. My guess is a 120 4x2x2 maybe 150 but I don't think the tank is 5 ft. long. The fish does seem to know the owner for sure.

Theres a 20 year old red belly pirahna (alone) in a smaller tank at an LFS around here, very similar to this but this rbp is only 7 inches. A 20 year old rbp should be much larger, and that pacu should also be larger, it has rub marks on its face from not being able to turn around.

You would be fine if I put you in a 5x5 cell, cramped but fine

A human could live in a 6x6 cement room for ever knowing that they are given food and water even if the food is complete junk.

Not really thinking with that post, this fish in not living, it's surviving like other people noted.
