Well if it is not 43 then i take my statement back... But my question is- how come nobody on this site with their gigantic tanks and dedication have kept a fish for 43 years? But the guy with the pacu may just be lying...

Think about that amount of time. By the time someone has built themselves up to multi thousand gallon tank they are already older, and older people have a tendency to not use forums such as this. Of course there are older guys on here but the majority of men that age just don't care enough to come on here. Or the internet at all very much. I'm sure given time people like arapiamag w/ good luck will obtain that, but the odds for someone having kept a fish 43 years and being on an internet forum just don't add up. Wrong demographic for internet use

I could see somebody having a koi for 43 years. A kid who grew up with a koi pond and took the koi when he moved out or a pond in a hotel lobby. A 43 year old fish isn't common but there has to be others out there.

Well....how old is our oldest member and how long has he or she had their fish?

I bet I am oldest.. and my fish are older then everyone elses fish......they are so old they don't want me to take their pictures anymore.. I know how that feels so I don't ..lol

Oh for sure and older then that. Just the chances that person who owns one also comes on here are slim lol

40's or not, that Pacu looks terrible... obviously in very bad shape, probably from the deplorable enclosure and diet...
