This is what 100+ indian almond leaves does

  • We are currently upgrading MFK. thanks! -neo
yeah thats my mono. biggest fish is one of my orinos, he's about 19". followed by the ocellaris which is about 18".

to be honest, i dont even check my ph when i add the leaves. i generally have hard water in my area (high 7s). the tea color really only lasts until the next water change since i do big 60-70% water changes.

once i run out of leaves i may try the DIY blackwater extract. i think i still have room for a few more cichla :D :grinno:

^ thx!

not necessarily preference because to be honest i prefer the color of my fish under clear water. but most of these fish come from blackwater conditions in SA. just another attempt at making an aquarium as close as possible to their natural environment.

and a note on the ph reading....how the heck am i supposed to get an accurate color reading my water looks like coca-cola?!?!?! :nilly i really should get a digital ph monitor

- yea more Orino! :D

The tea color makes it look real. In their natural environment thats alot like the water they would be in, and I dig the natural look. Carbon will suck those tannins up pretty quick if you ever want to go back to the clear water look in a hurry.:thumbsup: on the setup.

Don't over stress the pH. pH of 6 all the way to 4 is not uncommon in their natural ranges, what you do need to watch is keeping it consistent. pH swings are what would affect them.

Looks great BTW. :)
