I love your tank and how your trying to create a natural environment for these Monstrous creatures. I can't wait to see how you make your own black water. You have my interest.

thx for the feedback folks  it does give the tank an overall eery look as a monster bass comes swimming towards the front from the back where you can hardly see it. doesnt do much for the greens/blues of the orinos but the yellows and reds DAMN!!!!!!

^ thx!

not necessarily preference because to be honest i prefer the color of my fish under clear water. but most of these fish come from blackwater conditions in SA. just another attempt at making an aquarium as close as possible to their natural environment.

and a note on the ph reading....how the heck am i supposed to get an accurate color reading my water looks like coca-cola?!?!?! :nilly i really should get a digital ph monitor

not to put u onn bradda... but a test kit will do the job...
definitly love the way tannins enhance colors on these particular species.. but i have to concur with LAZ... pH swings and LOW pH will cause problems & situations u dont wanna be in... just speaking from MY experience & opinion...

so when u do, do a water changes dont do it like u did last time and drop the water too LOW.. 15-20% should keep it BALANCED..

by the WAY, your collection looks awsome... keep the GREENS GROWIN!!!

to all that ask in reguards to pH levels... i would keep it @ a minimum of 6.0-6.5 to be safe... anything lower is up to u too monitor...:)

i got a test kit lol. i was saying because it would be hard to get an accurate reading and match it up to the color chart when your water is brown. it will tweak the color even more after adding the drops.

but ill keep an eye on it, i def know what you mean about ph swings. ive had my fair share of issues with that.
