This sucks

just got my 2 banjo catfish and assasin snails in the mail. I thought they’d be a bit bigger then what they were but now I can’t put them in the main tank yet. So I must make a grow out tank with sand for a few months. Then the bichir won’t think of them as a snack. And the gouramis pick on the snails. So I’m gonna let them grow too.

Banjos are like litterally 2 inches. So no way in heck I’m going to even think about putting them in there. Segnal is like 4

Do you have sand in your main aquarium? If so the Banjo's will bury in the sand but go with your decision.

I am getting sand this weekend for main. And I don’t want them to have to hide all day and fear and not get any food

I have 4 in with a pair of Apistogramma and they bury themselves in the sand now and then I will spot one with just the eyes showing lol. I also drop pellets in every other day. I get your point of them hiding if harrassed.

Standard practice for me, would be putting any new fish in a quarantine tank for about 2 months, before subjecting the current fish to any diseases the new fish could be carrying.
I believe setting up the new tank, could be a blessing in disguise.

good to know. i was looking for some honest reviews of imperial tropicals. just a fyi ive had undersized/dead fish problems like this from bluegrassaquatics as well.
