Just to clarify range: it's in the Yucatan peninsula, south from Laguna Noh and in warmer lagoons and rivers across the Rio Candelaria and Usamacinta systems. I have seen it in ponds around Villahermosa. It occurs with T. meeki and T. helleri in much of its range. I have seen it in still and flowing waters. Have not seen it in fast-moving waters, but that doesn't mean it's not there. It's not in Peten Itza, and I have not seen it in rivers flowing into the Caribbean.
The fact that it occurs with both helleri and meeki does not mean that all three fish share a common range. As stated elsewhere, helleri occurs in swifter water, and meeki has a larger range that does indeed reach into rivers flowing towards the Caribbean.
