I’d get a few cheap fish that you like and see what happens, maybe 5 hatchets. Give it a month to see how they do.Nope just one minnow

None of my fish are particularly sensitive to water parameters are they?I’d get a few cheap fish that you like and see what happens, maybe 5 hatchets. Give it a month to see how they do.
Possibly the pictus, angels and hachets, but I’ve never kept those. That’s why I recommend the 5 hatchets, to see how they do. There’s ways to soften the water with alder cones, driftwood, almond leaves etc… but at ever WC, the PH will go up. RODI is an option or even getting an RODI system at your house. I don’t do any of that myself. I just keep my water clean and everything works out fine from my experienceNone of my fish are particularly sensitive to water parameters are they?
Wouldn’t I have to add minerals to rodi water since pure water is bad for fish?Possibly the pictus, angels and hachets, but I’ve never kept those. I’m not sure. But now you’re getting into where my philosophy differs from many others. I don’t test or worry about parameters unless I notice something wrong, which almost never happens. I keep to my maintenance schedule and everything is good.Wouldn’t I have to add minerals to rodi water since pure water is bad for fish?
I think im going to invest in a RODI system imnot willing to take the risk of losing the angelfish since from what ive read they prefer soft-neutral water. Ive heard some people say if they are captive bred they'll be fine but I dont want to take the risk of losing the angelfishI’m not sure. Good plan, you could also look into fish that prefer harder water. Since you’re new to this, that’s my advice. I really think you should make it as easy as possible until you get more experienced I’ve been at this for 37 years, so I do things that I don’t recommend for new comersI think im going to invest in a RODI system imnot willing to take the risk of losing the angelfish since from what ive read they prefer soft-neutral water. That’s my vote, but there’s not many you could do in the 29, maybe some shellies or caudopuntatus and possibly a small type of synodontis. That 150 could be an amazing Malawi tank though.African Cichlids?
Although I do think an African cichlids tank would be nice I honestly really like the pictus and angelfish and I’m not sure if the angels or pictus could live in a lake Malawi tankThat’s my vote, but there’s not many you could do in the 29, maybe some shellies or caudopuntatus and possibly a small type of synodontis.
