I think I’m leaning towards Malawi cichlids they seem to have more color and diversity than both Victoria and Tanganyika combinedYour options are pretty good with that size. I’d watch lots of videos to help determine what you like

Malawi definitely have more diversity than Vics, tangs are pretty diverse though, as far as colors, Malawi tend to be mostly blue or yellow of some combination of both.( man made types not included) Vics tend to be mostly green, red or gold or a combination of. There’s a few exceptions of course. Tangs are probably the least colorful but most interestingI think I’m leaning towards Malawi cichlids they seem to have more color and diversity than both Victoria and Tanganyika combined

Just depends on what you like, I like them all. Plus certain vics do ok with haps n peacocks and some even do ok with mbuna. For your first rift tank, I’d probably go with more peaceful haps n peacocksAny reason to keep Vics instead of Malawi or Tanganyika?
Or even a small shell dweller tank just to get your feet wetJust depends on what you like, I like them all. Plus certain vics do ok with haps n peacocks and some even do ok with mbuna. For your first rift tank, I’d probably go with more peaceful haps n peacocks

Mbuna are very aggressive , if you’re inexperienced, I would pass. Peacocks are probably the easiest Malawi and shellies or Julie’s are probably the easiest tangs. Vics are all pretty easy as long as you stock correctlymbunas are too aggressive?
