I am interested in lots. I have traditionally kept gar, arowana, TSN's and Clown Knives in different tanks throughout the years. I am looking to break away from this and try something new.
I am looking to maybe do a sand substrate type setup, or maybe a heavily planted tank with some ambush predators...but I'd also like some life in the tank, ya know?
I am thinking of trying out some smaller, "mini" monsters.
I think this would accomodate the thank size well, and be a new adventure for me.

Plus, I already have a seperate tank housing a beast, so I am good in the monster department.

Thanks

mini monsters...
try anything that gets 3 inches and above.
wouldnt want that sen eating them.
you can try nandus nandus, butis butis,ctenopomas(spelling...),SA leaf fish, smaller pike cichlids etc.
theres loads to choose from.

I was actually thinking of nandus nandus but i couldnt find any. I always have loved ctenopomas and leaf fish. Good call on those suggestions thanks alot.
Keep em' comin if you think of anything else.

I would love to get my hands on bagarius bagarius, but that would entail giving away my senegalus...but who knows? lol

just remember that many mini monsters can be hard to take care of.
e.g. SA leaffish NEEDS live foods and acidic, slow moving, water.
as for b. bagarius, try to get one that is used to warmer waters since they are from colder waters in the wild.
i dont see a problem with keeping b. bagarius with the sen.
ive done it before.

really? how big has your b. bagarius grown to? and what have you fed it?
I have my polypterus on silversides, shrimp, and pellets, but I think it craves the live food. But, I worry about parasites and infestations.
There is actually a guy near me with b. bagarius and I will definately give it a shot if cohabitation is doable.

Also, would that cancel out my chance of getting some midswimmers and high level swimmers?

Thanks again

b. bagarius arent aggressive at all.
love current.
need lots of oxygen.
mine ate mainly shrimp and silversides.
mine grew to about 7 inches before it died somehow.
they grow pretty slow.

Like i said, i have the integrated sump that has 2 exhausts towards the bottom and towards the top of the tank. the magnum adds water to the top layer. There is a fairly strong current in the tank. I have oxygenation through pump and bubble wand. I also have a large Powerhead that i could attach to increase current.
You think this would be good for a b. bagarius?

plenty.
they come from fast flowing streams.
i had three powerheads blowing the bottom of the tank.
