This was a man who tried to make the unfathomable world of life more accessible to everyone, in particular the species that instigate fear in us all. It's an incredibly sad loss to the conservation community. I really hope that this thread makes the countless irresponsible fishkeepers out there who buy what they think is a "manfish" consider for a few moments about what they are doing. Certain species are not made for aquaria. An african tiger fish can grow to 4 feet in length and is an active predator. Why do we want to keep these species in a confined environment? This man Steve Irwin wanted to preserve, not destroy. How many folk have a fully grown atf, or payarya, or giant snakehead? Not many I would assume. To think of the amount of beautiful predatory fish we as aquarists destroy each year sickens me. God bless you Steve, and of course your family. Without people like you we wouldn't have any hope....
