True as it may be... doesn't mean its condoned and we shouldn't teach that it is ok, it isn't the right way to do things (so at least now you know so leave it at that). Herptiles are in decline worldwide, I understand that it is human nature to only start to think to do something after it gets onto the endangered list but...

Piranhafreak, Santoury is a knowledgeable fish and turtle keeper and knows what he is doing, for a long time.

Do not use my question to him out of context and in agression mode, ok?

sorry, but hes been getting me really ticked off, but im sorry.

Just for the record, if you would look back afew pages you would find that this was one of those impulse things. We just went out there to see what we could catch and when we happened to find that there was a turtle with three legs we thought we needed to help it. If this whole thing offended you I am sorry. But like some one said earlier, at least we don't kill the things we catch because we think it's funny.:)

Guys, whats done is done. Either keep the turtle and provide it everything it needs to be kept happy or let it go back where you found it. Case closed.

we plan on providing, case closed. now let this die and let us take care of turtle, thank u very mucho!

I just want to give an update on this guy. He seems to be doing great right now! I fed him some earlier today and he swam right up to me as if to ask for more. I was also working in the pond some and instead of hiding he kept sticking his head out of the water and watched me as I worked.:)

To that guy who said I "have a shovel full" - that probably was in reference to Massachusetts having a large population of snapping turtles... BUT... seeing them is rare now, so once again, this IS one of the major reasons they are in decline, yes.
I have done collecting - who has not? But never kept them. Always released in the same place I got them from.

Oh well... If only everyone did what myself and some of the others on here do... catch and release (same with fish, ironically) most species would not be facing the issues they are today.
But then again, those of us who are speaking up, are just repeating ourselves.. all we can do is try to get others to see.
