The mfk/lounge rules are in place and should dictate how a thread is started and the replies to any thread from members. Things have improved in a better way. New members are here and gotta learn to adjust.

I get everyone wants to say what they want and feel. No one wants to be limited by another person by any means. No one can determine intent or emotion behind our posts so it’ll lead to confusion and conflict. Even a sense of humor or lightnheaded banter can be misconstrued as in case of the closed threads.

The closing of threads isn’t the goal of any member on the forum. If one thing we all can agree on is that. The tone and replies of threads twist too quickly. From one thread to another with similar members involved.

I’ve dealt with fb. Still deal with it. Too many agendas. Not a fan but don’t hate it either. It works for me and my purpose. Have to adjust with it and the people on it. Especially the fish groups on there.

For me. Any topic or thread that doesn’t reflect mfk in a good light then it’s not in the interest of Mfk. Think it leaves a bad taste in members mouths and it carries to other social platforms. I cringe when i see threads on uarujoey or Taylor Nicole dean. Maybe we’d have more members on here but terrible threads about these keepers keep people out. Even if it was meant to be a constructive type of criticism it somehow goes another route. I personally believe we have better members and info that fb doesn’t match. Only difference is advice is given immediately and good advice can get buried in the numerous comments. Don’t think it’s that great. The last thing the forum needs is to have less traffic thru here.

Think it’s good idea for a separate area to play where the rules are lenient. Should be brought to the mods/admins for discussion if it’s an option.

I do remember being welcomed to the forum with some kind (sarcasm) words from gangster on a pbass ID. It made me feel terrible (made me want to quit mfk)but i learned from it. Also another member replied to me and made me feel better. Was even thankful for words of wisdom there after. Can’t expext it to be everyone’s response in 2019. My oh my...has time passed on me, lol.

For allot of us MFK is our favorite source of social media. I dont care much for FB besides the 2 or 3 polypterus pages. Ron i consider you a friend and one of the members that made me feel like part of the mkf fam when i 1st joined but i am telling you this for a fact. Certain members are gaming the system/mods. I dont mean that in a disrespectful or argumentative way but it is what it is.

Now its easier to rant and rave go ballistic and get a thread locked or deleted instead of just arguing or discussing a point. Sneaky form of censorship.

Anyway my bday is in march....hint hint thunderdome !!!!

Hello; let me try to use an example and please bear in mind this is for the purpose of being an example only.
I did not understand that my individual and personal tendency to be attracted to fit and healthy looking women is now considered by some to be sexist. I thought it was simply a personal viewpoint. One of my best friends, now deceased, liked big women. He married his kind and I married my kind of ideal woman. We both wound up divorced. I just put it into the some drive chevys and some drive fords category.

So I guess I will have some additional suprises now days. What about dental hygene? Am I to be labeled because I like people who have good breath? Am I to consider folks with BO to be the same as folks who are clean?
By the way I get what I just wrote would have been considered silly in the past. But soo many standards I grew up with are being attacked and reclassified. A question. How did the folks who are now redefining almost all of our social standards get to have their viewpoints become superior to my own?

Please keep in mind this post is intended to be an example of how I, for one, am a bit confused.

I like the idea,but MFK is about fish, and I wouldn't want it to be 4chan. We don't need new members who join just to talk without a moderator.

Mfk is definitely about fish but does have other sections...this one for instance.

I dont think people would sign up because of some less restrictive section. How would they even know about it ?

On the other hand i dont think new members is necessarily a bad thing regardless of why they join. Not sure about jot having a modless area. Just a little more freedom to discuss.

I'd like a more Wild West type area, if you look at mfk, it was most popular before all the new rules sprung up, people could speak freely and ended up staying for the community AND fish related advice, the hiatus happened when more rules were implemented and many of the OG's went elsewhere , now we have rules made for snowflakes, which aren't going to win us any members.

I dont think viper means to insinuate that insults would be acceptable. Literally everything and anything could be taken as offensive hes right. Dwindling down the acceptable subject sucks, its boring. Think about the free for all thread. Last comment was an instruction on what is acceptable. Its ridiculous
