I'd like a more Wild West type area, if you look at mfk, it was most popular before all the new rules sprung up, people could speak freely and ended up staying for the community AND fish related advice, the hiatus happened when more rules were implemented and many of the OG's went elsewhere , now we have rules made for snowflakes, which aren't going to win us any members.

Say what? lol What new rules?

Members have left here for various reasons over the years, sheet happens, including in many cases real life. Marriage, kids, divorce, death, who knows? The largest exodus occurred when the servers kept going down a few yrs back, in some cases for days at a time. Some people left for FB, where they were safe from meanies like myself calling them out, others went to youtube, where they could become a self proclaimed expert on everything fish related and then some. No one left for new rules, there are no new rules, and I've been here longer than most posting in this thread. The only real rules on MFK are don't post BS and/or talk out of your arse, and act like a decent human being, and you'll get along with the mods/admin just fine.

And this is coming from someone who at times can be more than just a little outspoken - yet not once in 12 years have I had my hands slapped. That includes the scores of extremely heated food debates that took place here in years past. I don't know where some of you come up with your info?

I think that Steve hit the nail on the head with regards to how this would all play out. Not to mention who do you reckon is going to babysit this new folder? The moderators here are non-paid volunteers, with real lives, wives, kids, jobs, etc. Why on earth would any of them want to spend their time overseeing yet another folder? I think that some of you forget that, the real unsung heros of MFK are the mods who very unselfishly give up a LOT of their own personal time in order to ensure that this site can continue to operate.

I dont think any of us doubt that the mods are the unsung heros of mfk their efforts are greatly appreciated. The past two days of b.s. is a reminder to us all.

For some member the lounge is their preferred area above all others.

To be clear this was not a request nor an attempt to burden the mods with more work. More of an extension of a group private message.


I dont travel much out of the lounge and polypterus section. Occasionally the general area. The poly section is soo chilled out we have never needed a mod to intervene in the time that ive been a member here, that said the Lounge is absolutely NOT the most argumentative area by any means.

For those that arent in the lounge often well this subject doesnt really change anything for you. Infact is doesnt change anything for the loungers either. Get a thunderdome or dont get a thunderdome we'll still be a bunch of happy mfk'ers.

All we are doing is shooting the shhhh about having an area that would have an expanded list of acceptable conversations. Not an area where their are no mods, no rules, no normal codes of conduct.

Frank, I have no problem with anyone shooting the shhh about whatever. I think that it's a stupid idea, and a waste of forum resources (which overall effects everyone), but that's just my opinion, and me shooting the shhhh.

If anyone figures out what these supposed new rules are, I'd sure like to know what I missed.
