Hello; You may not have read the post by the Mod (Chicklux sp). In a post he clearly stated that one of the expectations of actions members need to do if they are to have a lounge is to self-police. I think the post was in the now closed thread he started about recent activities in the lounge. So called "back-seat" moderation should be discouraged. If you think something might be against the rules, report it. You need to have faith in the staff.
Self-policing (reporting posts) is different from back-seat moderating (members acting like staff when they really are not).Hello; You may not have read the post by the Mod (Chicklux sp). What are you even talking about ? We do that all of the time in this section. Stop playing dumb to impress people it isnt working. So called "back-seat" moderation should be discouraged. If you think something might be against the rules, report it. You need to have faith in the staff.

Hello; Like I said the Mod made the statement in a post. That was not my opinion. I just paraphrased what he posted. You are wrong.Self-policing (reporting posts) is different from back-seat moderating (members acting like staff when they really are not).
Hello; There was a point to this thread which I fear is being lost. The recent exchange with RD wherein I used some of his statements illustrate part of what is an issue as things are now run.
Now as things are we report to the Mods and let them deal but the Mods, understandably, do not want to have to deal with all the stuff. Also there are not enough Mods and so on. The Mods are not having fun. I do get it.
Some of us peons do actually try to self police threads ( refer to a recent example of an old member posting a gun image. That was taken care of by a peon and no Mod involved.) However some are not so reasonable as that returned old member and ignore us peons.
A question, if what has been done for years has many negative issues why not then consider some new ideas? Guess miracles are not to be expected but what is the advantage of doing the same old thing?
If I were to lobby for only one thing at this point that first thing would be to open PM conversations to more than six participants.
It is clear there will not be a thunderdome type thing. So be it. However some other less radical ideas have been put forth. Anyway thought I would try to nudge things back on track before we get "This thread has run it's course" message and it gets shut down.
