LOL, I have no idea what you are talking about, Frank, and/or Jeff. I lied? Really? Ok fellas. This is not a derailment by me, this was me commenting about a forum that I am a member of. The discussion was on track, but apparently not the track that you wanted to see. Your comment above, Frank, seemed clear to me, you only wanted input on how this was going to work, for you, and others like minded. IMO, and IME, it would have never worked. But I didn't attempt to stop the discussion, positive or negative spin. That's the difference Frank.

And had some of the suggestions being put out there been implemented, it clearly would have involved censoring who could, and who could not take place in this behind the scenes room. Age limits, years of membership on MFK, is that not a form of censorship? You are restricting a certain segment of the membership from seeing/reading what would have been taking place in that folder. A folder that you gents were "brainstorming" about, that involved a different TOS from the rest of the membership here. Call it brainstorming, or whatever you like - this is what you were considering. I thought it was stupid, and not in the best interest of the forum. I'm just a single voice, so I'm not sure why everyone got so hyper defensive.

I am not implying anything, I'm only going by what has been posted - such as this started via PM, which implies more than just Frank. Did I miss something, guys? (plural)

Maybe this should have simply stayed in a PM? You chose to make it public, I chose to get involved. Underhanded approach? That's laughable, but most of what you post I can barely sort out, Jeff. Maybe that's the problem, it's all just a big misunderstanding, you think?


BTW - If you don't like what I have to say on a topic, feel free to place me on ignore. I have no problem with that, none whatsoever.

I could post the screen shots of the 1st few pages and prove how misleading you are being, I could pull quotes and so on. Honestly im really not interested in an ongoing argument. I'd rather the thread not get locked. The 1st few pages contrary to what you say was a normal convo. No arguing no censorship. Did you go read the 1st page or two ? No you didnt.

Honestly i dont want to see you embarrass yourself further. Ive always had respect for your contributions but i think i'll take your advice and for the 1st time use that ignore feature. Thx for the suggestion

Guys, the Mods already said no. So, it's a moot point to continue agruing. The only thing left is tension and hurt feelings. We already had 2 banned the last few days plus a few wanabes...let's not add to it.

There never was much of an arguement in the 1st place. I thought the 1st few pages were cool
Mods even getting in on the convo.


Mods please allow the thread to live theres probably still a decent discussion some where in here.

Guys. This is real simple. What you're asking for here is what the lounge was intended to be. The reason the restrictions on certain subjects being discussed were put into place is due to the fact that in spite of what you all may want, experience on the forum clearly shows that WE are not capable of discussion certain things civilly. Yes, the fight that got the 10,000 post gun thread closed involved a non-American moderator who was offended by it. Guess what people, I love guns. Big deal. The problems got bad enough that they attracted the Boss's attention, and he decided discussion of such subjects needed to go away.

I sit here and have read every single comment in this thread. I checked out your join dates. Most of you here joined well after the forum tanked in the Great Server Crash of 2015, with the couple of you who joined before it joining just in time to have been caught by the Crash.

Then, I have some newer cats (cough cough Deadliestviper7 cough) who were never even here for the good times when the OT thread could pick up 1,000 new posts in a day, who are talking about how things have slowed down because I'm enforcing the rules. Seriously?

After the Crash, the forum was dead. The social media campaign was my idea, I did it myself for the first year after it started before I got help. Reviving the photo contests was my idea. I did everything about the awards from the ground up. I've written probably 100,000 words of encyclopedic content for this forum, I'm currently negotiating to have actual trophies made for the winners of my photo contests.

Do any of you really think I want to drive people away?

What would be the point of the past four years of my life I've invested to keep this fking place floating if I WANTED to ban people?

I don't want to use the hammer, I don't want to waste my time moderating every single damn thread on here.

But I will if you force me to.

I'm perfectly content to run my photo contests, look at tigerfish and do my awards. Jesus y'all. I'm only asking two things- be nice to each other, and don't talk out of your ass.

Hello; Interesting. I got the opposite take from a post by an actual Mod recently. Might be in this very thread but I have not looked.
As I recall that Mod seemed to be indicating the opposite. That Mods do not want to spend their time and energy with all the reports.

I want members to report dubious content, and I read every single report that is made on this forum. I brought up the 17 reports in my comment not because reports are a problem, but because the level of petty BS in that thread was staggering.

Self policing doesn't mean you all are allowed to pretend to be mods. I don't expect you to be. What it means is don't be assh*les for the sake of being assh*les just to intentionally piss people off. And, if someone is, call them out. If that doesn't work, instead of fighting, report.

Most of you are great about this. You give us no problems. If there is someone trying to change how the forum works, let us know and I will likely be the one to dispose of them if it comes to that.

I was watching MFK since it's first day of launch(actually tried to access the site before it was even running), but I get what your saying

What do you guys think causes all the issues ? Personalities , times changing, the subject matter (ie political/social crap)

Most of my life ive been on the opposite end of the spectrum from my friends and co workers. Yeah we would talk smack disagree. But it wasnt like today. No one walked away with hard feelings, and this is a group of guys that would get into fist fights over footballs games.

Or is it just the subjects like politics, and social issues just cause everyone to lose their shhhhh.

I gotta think its mostly the times changing.

This morning I had fish and grits.
I'm tired of the shift at this point but it works since it pays better for less work lol.I originally came to this shift because of my son's school shcedule and I would the only one of us who could get across town in time to pick him up when he got out but that was quite a few years ago.

Night diff is definitely cool. Speaking of school.... my house literally is thunderdome right now. Freezing out and they have the day off.....yay for me
