My boys are I will be going fishing here very soon, but in North Florida I have not heard of tilapia in the rivers and such. As far north as I heard of them is Tampa area in the wild. Grabbing some sunfish will definately be on our agenda. I heard that you can see them spawning and just throw out a cast net. I will see and let you know.
 
Well, the temps are hovering around 75 76, still a little cool I believe. I look and look after the females are not gravid anymore and I cannot see any eggs on the bottom of the tank.

Also, the convicts have paired and I have moved the other con to another tank.
It was cool to watch them, after I fed them baby shrimp, his colors darkened and he flared up, as well as her belly reddened. He chased her until she stopped in a cave where she stayed for awhile rubbing on the ceiling of the terracotta pot. Then she left and he backed in and fanned for a few minutes, then they are off.....interesting.
 
here it what you do mates..

vent them unless grav of course...

get 1 male and 5-10 females

the egg crates methods works

but needs to be raised off the bottom of tank

raise it 4-5 inches

feed good... go with frozen bloods and brine shrimp

should spawn in 2-3 weeks
